There was no ribbon cutting. No press release blasting across timelines. No fireworks.
In August 2024, two teams, Ikons Biomed and LabEngines, quietly sat down and made a decision that would go on to reshape diagnostics access for laboratories across Nigeria. They came together, pooled their strengths, and became one company: LABORIA.
No fanfare. Just a clear intention: to build something Nigerian laboratories could actually depend on.
Two years later, we’re still here. And what a two years it’s been.
From One Room to Four Cities
When LABORIA started, our product foundation was solid and our teams knew the industry inside out. But our reach was small. We were present, but not everywhere our customers needed us to be.
Today, that’s changed. We now have offices and teams working across Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt, not just as dots on a map, but as a promise: that wherever your laboratory is, we’re closer than you think. Closer means faster response times, deeper understanding of local realities, and relationships that go beyond a single sale.
Partnerships That Raised the Bar
Growth doesn’t happen alone, and we’ve never pretended otherwise.
As the exclusive distributor of Zybio Inc. products in Nigeria, we’ve been able to widen access to advanced IVD solutions across the country. Our relationship with URIT, now over five years strong, has quietly powered a lot of what we do. And through our own proprietary brand, Answer, we’re building solutions shaped directly around what Nigerian laboratories actually need, not what a catalogue somewhere else says they should need.
A Portfolio Built to Solve Problems, Not Just Sell Products
Two years ago, our offering was narrower. Today, LABORIA covers Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Immunoassay, Electrolyte Analysis, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Point-of-Care Testing, among other critical diagnostic areas.
But here’s the thing: a bigger catalogue was never the point. The point is that no two laboratories are the same. Different budgets. Different workloads. Different technical demands. A wider portfolio simply means we can meet a laboratory where it actually is, not where it’s “supposed” to be.
The Work That Happens After the Sale
Here’s a truth about diagnostic equipment that doesn’t get said enough: the moment a machine arrives at your lab isn’t the finish line. It’s the starting line.
Behind every installation, our engineers are the ones quietly keeping things running: troubleshooting, maintaining, minimizing downtime so your lab doesn’t have to slow down. Our sales and application teams stay close to understand what you actually need to get full value from your equipment. And through our training initiatives, laboratory scientists, biomedical engineers, and healthcare professionals across the country have had a place to sharpen their skills and stay current with where the industry is heading.
This is what “More Than Labs” really means to us. It was never just a tagline. It’s a commitment to show up before the sale, during the sale, and long after it.
It Was Never Just About Us
Every laboratory that trusted us with an installation. Every healthcare facility that chose one of our solutions. Every professional who sat through a training session. Every partner who said yes to working with us.
They’re all part of this story. Honestly, this growth was never something LABORIA built alone. It was built with the people who chose to build it with us.
Two Years Isn’t the Finish Line, It’s the Foundation
We don’t measure our progress purely by how many offices we’ve opened or how many products sit in our portfolio. We measure it by how much more we can now offer, how much deeper our technical support has become, and how many more relationships we’ve built along the way.
What started as a straightforward supplier relationship has quietly grown into something closer to a partnership model, one built on presence, technical depth, and consistent follow-through. That kind of transformation doesn’t happen in a single moment. It happens installation by installation, training by training, laboratory by laboratory.
What’s Next
As we step into year three, the direction is clear: go deeper into the communities we already serve, strengthen the partnerships that got us here, widen the range of solutions on offer, and keep building the technical capacity Nigerian laboratories deserve.
And beyond Nigeria’s borders, the ambition doesn’t shrink. It grows. We’re working toward becoming Nigeria’s premier partner for high-quality IVD solutions, and eventually, a leading name across Africa’s diagnostics landscape.
There’s more to build. More laboratories to support. More professionals to equip. More partnerships to form. More ground to cover across the continent.
To every client who has trusted us, every partner who believed in what we were building, and every member of the LABORIA team who showed up and made it real, thank you. Two years ago, we started quietly. Today, we can look back and see exactly how far that quiet decision has taken us.
We are more than labs.
