Nearly 100 professionals. One learning space. And conversations that went far beyond the slides.

July marked the return of the LABORIA General Public Training Series, bringing together laboratory scientists, biomedical engineers and healthcare professionals from hospitals, diagnostic centres, laboratories and learning institutions across Nigeria.

The focus was Preventive Maintenance and Best Practices for Haematology Analysers, but the bigger conversation was about something every laboratory professional understands: how do we keep laboratory systems performing reliably, efficiently and consistently?

Turning Everyday Laboratory Challenges Into Learning

Equipment downtime. Inconsistent performance. Maintenance gaps. Poor handling practices. Unexpected faults.

These are not just technical inconveniences. In a busy laboratory, they can affect workflow, increase operational costs and disrupt the delivery of diagnostic services.

Throughout the July session, participants explored practical approaches to preventive maintenance and analyser management, with emphasis on identifying problems before they become costly disruptions.

The conversation reinforced an important principle:

The best time to think about equipment maintenance is not when the equipment stops working.

Preventive maintenance can help laboratories protect their investment, reduce avoidable downtime, extend equipment lifespan and maintain more consistent operations.

Learning That Goes Beyond Theory

The LABORIA General Public Training Series is designed to be practical.

It creates a space where laboratory and healthcare professionals can strengthen their technical knowledge, ask questions around real operational challenges and gain insights they can apply within their own laboratories.

The July edition reflected exactly that.

With almost 100 professionals participating, the questions, shared experiences and discussions demonstrated the value of creating more opportunities for the diagnostic community to learn together.

Because laboratory excellence is not achieved through equipment alone.

It also depends on the knowledge, competence and confidence of the people behind the equipment.

Building Stronger Laboratories Through Knowledge

At LABORIA, our work does not end with providing laboratory and diagnostic solutions.

We believe supporting the diagnostic community also means contributing to the knowledge and technical capacity required to use, manage and maintain those solutions effectively.

That is the thinking behind the LABORIA General Public Training Series.

Through each edition, we aim to address relevant laboratory challenges, share practical industry knowledge and create opportunities for professionals across the healthcare ecosystem to continue learning.

Ultimately, the goal is simple:

Better knowledge. Better laboratory practices. Better diagnostics.

And Now, We Look to August

July set an insightful stage.

August is taking the conversation further.

Another edition of the LABORIA General Public Training Series is coming, with another opportunity to learn, ask questions, exchange experiences and gain practical insights that can make a difference in your laboratory.

If you are a laboratory scientist, biomedical engineer, healthcare professional or part of an organisation committed to improving diagnostic quality, this is one session to look out for.

The topic and registration details for the August edition will be announced soon.

Until then, stay connected with LABORIA.

Something worth learning is coming this August.

LABORIA. More than Labs.
